Lumberjack Dog Costume - 31 Days of Dog Costumes for big dogs - Rafferty - raffertypup.com

This Lumberjack dog costume is quick and easy to assemble. With just a few inexpensive and easy-to-find pieces, your dog will be a mountain man in no time!

Lumberjack Dog Costume Supplies

Buffalo Plaid Shirt

First, we’ll need that classic red Buffalo plaid button down shirt. You probably already have one in your closet! But if you don’t, their timelessness combined with current popularity should make them easy to find in a thrift store, or grab this one.

Hat with Ear Flaps

This lumberjack dog costume needs a hat with ear flaps. Kids hats will fit your dog better than adult-sized hats. Attach some elastic or a headband to keep it on your dog’s head. If you can’t find one locally, this one would work well.

Toy Tools

Finally, this lumberjack needs some tools. Find a (lightweight!) toy saw or axe, and hang it on your dog’s neck to complete the look. This set from Amazon has both a saw and an axe.

Accessorize!

If your dog doesn’t mind costumes, you can add a few more accessories to this lumberjack dog costume.

Every lumberjack I’ve ever seen has had a beard! Grab this one from Amazon to add some hilarity to your costume.

You can also get these adorable dog overalls to add to the look. They are made from real denim and sized for big dogs. They even have real pockets!

Be Safe!

PS: As always, please be sure to put the safety and comfort of your dog first. Be sure the clothing fits properly and isn’t too tight or binding. Dogs can overheat quickly, so if the weather is too warm, don’t dress up your dog! And watch your pup for signs of stress. Some dogs will make it obvious if they hate the costume, but others might give more subtle clues like yawning, panting and pinned-back ears. Remember, a funny Instagram photo isn’t worth making your dog miserable, or worse.
